Management Team
Neil McQueen
Founder, President
Neil has led Notions Systems since its inception in 1997. He has built the organization from the ground up as a technology consulting firm focused on delivering exceptional business value. Neil developed Notions' risk management-based solution delivery approach and enforces Notions' adherence to on-time, on-budget, and on-target delivery.
Neil has worked with several clients in the continuous improvement of their own IT organizations. He aided in building and implementing formalized software development practices, budgeting and cost justification standards, team growth and mentoring, partnership development, and total lifecycle planning. Neil has assisted clients such as Baxter Healthcare, Lucent Technologies, United Airlines, RehabCare Group, Kemper Insurance, and Ondeo-Nalco in many of these areas.
Prior to founding Notions Systems, Neil held numerous positions with Accenture and Closer Look Creative. In these positions Neil was successful working across organizational boundaries to build teams, culture, and process. Neil built software development processes that have scaled to teams of more than 400 developers.
Neil focuses on discipline, technology competency, and letting business needs drive technology, each of which are core to Notions' culture.
Dan Blake
Chief Technology Officer
Dan brings to Notions Systems more than 20 years experience from a variety of industry, consulting, and software product organizations. As CTO, he is leveraging his experience as a senior-level technology strategy and architecture consultant, dot com CTO, and CTO of a $6 billion insurance and financial services company.
Before joining Notions Systems, Dan founded his own consulting company ArchiStrat Consulting, Inc. ArchiStrat specialized in delivery senior level technology services to startups and established organizations in the financial services, manufacturing, and distribution industries. Prior to forming ArchiStrat, Dan served as the CTO for a raw material procurement ecommerce company. Dan has also served as the corporate CTO for Aon Corporation. In this role he had worldwide responsibility for coordinating various technology initiatives for Aon Corp., across all business units. He oversaw a department of more than 200 people and $60 million budget. Dan joined Aon in 1995, serving as CTO, and president and CEO of Aon Risk Technologies. There, he managed standards, architecture, common systems and shared infrastructure for the 35,000-employee insurance giant.
Prior to Aon, Dan worked at Accenture, where he led the development of components of its client-server CASE tool. Under his management the development team had a budget of $1.25 million and produced a product responsible for $9 million in annual revenue. Dan has been a member of the Microsoft Enterprise Development Advisory Board. He’s also served on various IBM Users Group panels and was a speaker for International DB2 User Group sessions. He holds a bachelor’s degree in applied computer science and a minor in business administration from Illinois State University.
